Once they had purchased the detached house, they contacted Martyn Pattie, a firm of local architects in Ongar to help design the new layout and proposed extension. Create Room were contacted once the plans had been originated, we worked closely with the home owners throughout the property renovation, putting forward ideas and suggestions, tweaking the layout and design so that they got the family home they wanted.

The two-storey house extension was the first thing to be built on the side of the property. This was constructed from block work, which was then covered with monocouche plaster and painted white.

Modern yet practical HardiePlank in a light grey was fixed to the exterior of the property. Hardieplank is made from advanced material fibre cement composite that offers the ultimate in fire, moisture, rot and pest resistance. The unique properties of Hardieplank offers major advantages over conventional cladding materials providing design flexibility and enhanced durability.

The whole of the existing roof was removed and replaced with Spanish slates to complement the colour scheme of the rest of the property.
New modern amethyst grey aluminium windows were made to measure for the property and fitted throughout.

The newly constructed porch was finished by fitting a new stylish front door, custom made to the customer’s design and preference.
Internally, the property extension allows this home to have 3 large family bedrooms, which were created which all shared the large, tiled family bathroom. The 4th bedroom, the large master bedroom had its own en-suite shower room & and walk in wardrobe. The vaulted ceiling was created providing maximum space and an airy feeling whilst copious amount of natural daylight is able to penetrate the room via the windows and electric velux window installed.

To ensure the hallway also benefitted from natural daylight, a sun tunnel was fitted. Sun tunnels bring natural light into even the darkest spaces through a specially designed, reflective tunnel that passes from roof to ceiling, downstairs a living room was created with a custom-made fire place and French doors. A study and downstairs cloakroom are also present.

The hub of this family home would be the open planned, kitchen/diner complete with its state-of-the-art kitchen, purposeful island and underfloor heating. This was designed to function as the heart of the property and the aluminium bi-folding doors provide superb views of the new patio and garden area.
